Another weekend, another event. This time we packed up the gear and headed south, all the way down the peninsula to Homestead - Miami Speedway in Homestead, Florida. On the weekend of September 30th - October 1 the Ferrari Challenge, factory racing series hit Homestead for a hot weekend of intense action! The weekend for us consisted of great on track action, exotic car rallies and a whole lot of sweat. We kicked off the action on Saturday morning by joining in with Ferrari of Fort Lauderdale's rally to the track, which consisted of about 40 Ferraris and other miscellaneous supercars blasting down the 821 and flashes of red prancing horses weaving in and out of traffic. My ride for the journey came in the form of a Maserati Gran Turismo. Not a Ferrari, but we blended in, and kept up just fine. Once we arrived to the track (In record time) the cars parked up with the rest of the Ferraris already posted in the corral, and it was time to check out some of the racing action. This year we saw both the previous generation 458 Ferrari Challenge cars and the all new 488 Challenge cars on track throughout the weekend. There were even a few oddballs on track like a 488 GT3 and a rather gorgeous 430 Challenge car. Unfortunately, as a photographer with no media access at Homestead - Miami Speedway it is rather difficult to capture on track photos, but luckily the stationary cars in the corrals more than made up for that! Among the cars in the paddock and corral lots sat a lone LaFerrari, several TDFs, Speciales, Speciale Apertas, plenty of 458s and 488s and even a Rosso Dino Ferrari SA Aperta! With 100% humidity and temperatures feeling like 101 degrees it was certainly a warm one, at least until the rains brought our weekend at the track to an end in typical Florida fashion.
